Morning Reflections on August 23, 2026

As I sit in my backyard, breathing in the musky humid air at sunrise, I am pulled back into myself, Body and Spirit reconnected.

As a highly sensitive person, perfectionist, and recovering people pleaser, I recognize that I’ve been operating from a place of dysregulation, hyperawareness, reactivity, and imbalance for quite some time. Due to the allostatic load that has accumulated, every attempt to gain my momentum and rebalance myself would quickly give way to the urgencies, inconsistencies, and chaotic pressures around me.

One, two, three, and four passing weekends of napping, dissociating, doom scrolling, and journaling here and there were not enough. That is because healing your nervous system requires layers of change, understanding, acceptance, and slow progression. It does not happen overnight. It is a consistent and intentional choosing of self to determine the things around you that are causing disruption and proceeding in way that will bring centering. Some days might feel light, and others might feel a little too heavy to carry.

I am beginning to understand that this repeating cycle of burnout, fatigue, and exhaustion is meant to teach me something of significance:

I am responsible for my own energy field.

I am the keeper of my Spirit.

No earthly circumstance changes the truth of the Divine, the truth of God, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, Angels, and the ancestral presence that is all around me.

These are things that cannot be seen from a 3-D lens.

It is the faith to trust in what is not always seen and to feel that truth within.

My thoughts, feelings and actions are up to me to decide. Everything is energy, even the things we want to avoid.

As an empath, it is a challenge to decipher between my own energy and feelings and others. The lesson in all of this is that I can still be a kind, thoughtful, intentional, helpful, and loving steward without losing myself.

This truth doesn’t mean that I am not going to experience pain, strife, overwhelm, or loss. I definitely have and I will continue to experience those things. However, that is a part of life, and I do not have to fear the shadows that the light of awareness may cast.

All energy can be alchemized to create something. I am that alchemist.

Sending each and every one of you love and light on your journeys of healing.

Love,

Cait
